Table X is the restaurant I recommend when someone in Salt Lake asks where to go for a special dinner. It's a chef-run spot that serves a seasonal tasting menu, so you settle in and let the kitchen take you through the night.

The experience

The tasting menu

You choose five or seven courses, and the menu changes with the seasons. Every course feels thoughtful, and the pacing is relaxed, so it's a great place for a long conversation. There's a wine pairing and a non-alcoholic pairing if you want one.

The bread

Table X Bread, their bakery, is right below the restaurant and was a James Beard nominee for Outstanding Bakery. The bread at dinner is worth the trip on its own. Stop by the bakery for sourdough and pastries another day.

Tips

Reserve ahead. It's open Wednesday through Saturday evenings.
Go for seven courses if it's a celebration. You won't regret the extra two.
